According to the accounts, the Prophet reviewed his army at this spot before setting out for Badr, and the place is regarded as the location where Quran 8:7 was revealed. Hadith reports mention that he performed ablution with water from the nearby Suqya well and that water was also drawn from it for drinking.

The Arabic source adds that the Prophet prayed here and invoked blessings upon the people of Medina. It is also reported that Umar led a prayer for rain at this place, asking Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib to take part in the supplication.
