According to its inscription, it was commissioned by his wife, Şah Selime Hatun. The tomb also holds the remains of their son, Muhammad. When it was built, the structure belonged to a larger complex that included a mosque and a zawiya. Today it lies within a protected heritage site in Ahlat.

According to the inscription, the tomb was commissioned by Şah Selime Hatun for her husband Emir Bayındır, who died in October or November 1481. Their son Muhammad died in December 1488 or January 1489 and was buried in the same building. The architect of the tomb is unknown. Some scholars suggest that Baba Can, known as the architect of the complex's mosque, may also have designed it.
The General Directorate of Foundations restored the building in 1965 and 1971, and it was registered in 1981 by the High Council of Immovable Antiquities and Monuments. Surrounding walls were built in 1986. The tomb was included in the protected site designated under the 1993 Ahlat conservation development plan of the Diyarbakır Regional Conservation Council, and a 1997 decision of the same council kept it within first-degree protected areas. The General Directorate of Foundations restored it again in 2005.

The Emir Bayındır Tomb (Turkish: Emir Bayındır Kümbeti), also known as the Parmaklıklı Tomb (Turkish: Parmaklıklı Kümbet), is the tomb of Emir Bayındır bin Rüstem, a bey of the Aq Qoyunlu dynasty, located in Ahlat. According to its inscription, the mausoleum was commissioned by his wife, Şah Selime Hatun, following Bayındır's death in October or November of 1481. The tomb also houses the remains of their son, Muhammad, who died in December 1488 or January 1489. At the time of its construction, the structure was part of a larger complex that included a mosque and a zawiya. Although the architect of the mausoleum is unknown, some scholars suggest that Baba Can—known to have designed the mosque within the complex—may have also been responsible for the mausoleum's design.
