It stands on Pangeran Bendahara in the Samarinda Seberang district, across the river side of the city. The Indonesian source places it in the Mesjid sub-district, while the Arabic source refers to the village of Seberang. Sources disagree on when the mosque was built: the Arabic Wikipedia gives 1891, while the Indonesian Wikipedia gives 1881. In 2003 the mosque was recognised at a national festival of historic mosques in Indonesia, and the Indonesian source states that it placed second.
