The Lhasa Great Mosque stands in the Chengguan District of Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. Also known as Gyel Lhakhang, it lies southeast of Barkhor Square. It is described as the largest mosque in the city and covers an area of about 2,600 square metres. Its worshippers are mostly descendants of immigrants who arrived from Ladakh and Kashmir in the 17th century.
