The Ben Farès Mosque is a mosque and former synagogue in the Casbah district of Algiers, the capital of Algeria. The building was formerly known as the Great Synagogue of Algiers. Its official name is now Ben Farès Mosque, although many local residents still call it Djamaa el-Yahud, meaning "Mosque of the Jews". According to the sources, it was built of brick in a style that echoed the surrounding mosques. For many years it served as the main synagogue of Algeria's Jewish community.

The Great Synagogue was built in 1865 of brick, in the style of the mosques around it, and for many years served as the principal synagogue of Algeria's Jewish community.

During the Algerian War, the synagogue was set on fire in July 1960. It was attacked again on 11 December of the same year. After the Jewish community left the city, the building was closed and stood abandoned for a time.

In 1962 it was converted into the Ben Farès Mosque. This is its official name today, though many residents of the area continue to refer to it as Djamaa el-Yahud.
