The Jameh Mosque of Varamin is the main congregational mosque of the city of Varamin in Tehran Province and is regarded as one of the oldest buildings in the city. Listed among Iran's national heritage sites, it is classed under Ilkhanid and Timurid architecture. The complex consists of a shabestan (a multi-aisled columned hall), a portico, a large brick dome, an annex beside the shabestan, and a row of ten small arches set along a large central arch. Its walls combine plain brick bonding, broad patterns of uniform bricks, glazed tiles, tile and raised-brick ornament, intricate brick reliefs and stucco. The stucco is considered among the finest in Iran. The iwan of the shabestan carries inscriptions with arabesque patterns and a range of Arabic, Kufic and Persian scripts.
