Türkmenbaşy Ruhy Mosque stands in Turkmenistan's Ahal region, about seven kilometres west of the capital Ashgabat on the M37 highway. It is also known as the Gypjak Mosque. The building is the resting place of Saparmurat Niyazov, who led Turkmenistan from 1985 to 2006, and it is therefore described as both a mosque and a mausoleum. Our records list its architectural style as Islamic architecture and give its capacity as about 10,000 worshippers.
