The Shah Mosque is one of the historic mosques of Tehran and is counted among the city's prominent congregational mosques. It stands in the northern section of the Grand Bazaar. Built in the Qajar architectural tradition, it was constructed in the Qajar period on the orders of Fath Ali Shah. It was formerly known as the Soltani ("royal") Mosque, and after the Islamic Revolution in Iran its name was changed to the Imam Mosque (Emam Mosque); both names remain in use. The building has been on the Iran National Heritage List since 1984.
