The Lulua Mosque, whose Arabic name means “Mosque of the Pearl”, stands in the Southern Cemetery area around the Muqattam Hills of Cairo. It was built in the Fatimid architectural style during the reign of al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah, the third Fatimid caliph. Today it is an important place of visit for the Bohra community. Alongside Egyptian worshippers, visitors come from countries such as Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Bahrain and India. Attendance is larger on Fridays, when many come to take part in the Friday prayer.
