Kadı Bedreddin Mosque stands in the provincial center of Edirne. It was built in the early 16th century by Mevlana Bedrettin Mahmut Efendi, who served as kadi of Edirne during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. Some sources place the construction in the 1530s.
The mosque occupies flat ground within a large walled courtyard. It has a square plan with a single dome and a single minaret, while its last congregation area is covered by two domes. Cut stone and brick were used in the walls. The grave of its founder lies in the treasury (hazire) to the north of the building. The Kadı Bedrettin Fountain, adjoining the mosque wall, was registered as a cultural asset to be protected by the Edirne Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Assets (decision of 23.11.2020, no. 7211).

The founder, Mevlana Bedrettin Mahmut Efendi, was the father of Şeyhi Çelebi and of the sheikhulislam Kadızade Ahmed Şemseddin Efendi. After a period as a muderris, he was appointed kadi of Aleppo and then of Edirne, and he died while serving in Edirne.
The great Edirne earthquake of 1752 badly damaged the mosque and brought down its dome; during the subsequent restoration it was covered with a roof. After the 1953 earthquake the wooden roof was replaced by a dome and the domes of the last congregation area were completed. The most recent restoration began in 2017, and after three years of work the mosque reopened for worship in 2021.
