The Khalid ibn al-Walid Mosque stands in the city of Homs, Syria, in the north-eastern part of the city on the Orontes River. It is built in the Ottoman architectural tradition and takes its name from the companion and commander Khalid ibn al-Walid, associated with the Battle of the Yarmouk in 636. Sources describe a mausoleum within the mosque that is attributed to him. The district is named differently in different sources, including Hameidiyyah, al-Khalidiyya and al-Shuhada, and the address is recorded as Khalid ibn al-Walid Street.

Our records give 1908 as the year of construction, and the building is classed as Ottoman in style.

Sources differ on whose tomb lies inside the mosque. One view holds that it is the tomb of Khalid ibn al-Walid. Another tradition says it belongs to Khalid ibn Yazid, a grandson of Mu'awiya.
