The mosque was built in 1465 during the reign of Jahan Shah. Its roof collapsed in the earthquake of 1778, leaving standing only the upper part of the entrance portal. The building remained in ruins until it was reconstructed in 1973 by Reza Memaran Enjam under the supervision of Iran's Ministry of Culture.
